Brothers Integrated Rural Development Society (BIRDS)is the Social organ of Sacred Heart Brothers formed in the year 1997 with a primary motto to serve the marginalized communities in Rural and Urban areas. Sacred Heart Brothers is a registered society under Karnataka Society Registration Act in the year 1978 with a number 3/77-78. At the initial stage the society was doing a lot of charitable work in the rural Bangalore. Later in the year 1997 we felt the need to have a separate unit for the social work unit which can promote for the Community Development of the people as per the need of time.

Hence the BIRDS was established in the year 1997.BIRDSis dedicated to the empowerment of the tribal, rural community and slum with the inclusive of holistic development of the people without any discrimination on the bases of caste, religion and social status. This project is completely on child and women focused community development works, such as education, health, income generation, civic amenities and empowerment of the community. The BIRDS promotes development and empowerment works on the light of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by the united nation. And also the BIRDS executes its works towards holistic development of the people by providing SMART goals (Specific-Measurable-Achievable-Reasonable-Time bound).

Out of the dedicated service of the staff and directors in the past years BIRDS became mother NGO for many others institutions such as,

  1. BIRDS Heal in Gulbarga – North Karnataka. It has become a separate society now works for Health, Education, Community Development of Dalit and Tribal community in the rural villages.
  2. Planet Hope – a home for the distressed children from Stone Quarries provides free education, nutrition and boarding facilities.
  3. Ashraya Deep Dispensary – provides health facility to the people from Stone Quarries.
  4. BIRDS Community College – to provide short term vocation training courses to the under privileged youths on computer, tailoring, driving and beautician courses.
  5. Skill Training Centre – a training center to provide skill training to the youths from Slums on Computer, Communicative English, Retail Management and Personality Developments. It also concentrates on providing job placement to the students who completed successfully their 4 months training.
  6. CARE – a new social work program of our society emerging to serve the women and children in the border districts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

  • To preventive methods for dieses and to create curative health care
  • To give placement for the skilled youth and to raise them from the poverty line.

  • To redeem the slum dwellers from harmful social factors
